a glass case

It stands firm amidst the storm: deceiving yet transparent, fragile yet armored, and parasitical yet beneficial. Its alluring nature was too overpowering for her, a girl who had constantly been blind-sighted by the fickle temperaments of life. Inside this glass case she, who at one time eminently depended upon every important person in her life, was left without anybody but herself, herself, and it. It - that caused confliction and pain within her, it- that slowly turned her into a person who neglected motivations and purposes, it - that eventually led her to a meandering road in which she was reduced to nothing but a lost vagabond. Regardless of the many times she cried out for the seemingly non-existant life boat, it along with the case kept her sealed tight within. Nobody could hear her despite her voiceless words, nobody could see her despite the translucence of the case, and so she was left with herself for the only place to turn to when in need of comfort. However, her vulnerability and doubtful heart allowed herself to knock down all her attempts to stand back up. No matter to what degree she was drained and hopeless inside, the glass case's purpose was to delude. The case's sole purpose was to provide her with a masked demeanor in which she would smile through - each and every smile splintering a shard of glass. She would smile like the world was ending overcome with fear that a single person might catch a glimpse of her real self. In a certain aspect, that exactly is why she embraces the case. Incomprehensible and paradoxical as it is, she withstands all beyond her limit only to hang on for dear life to this curious case. I suppose you could call it a love-hate relationship.
